1. Welcome
Happy People is a community of members at home in Nigeria and in the diaspora. We celebrate birthdays, support one another through events and donations, take part in tasks together, and stay connected in our WhatsApp groups and on the Happy People app.
These Community Guidelines explain the standards we expect of every member. They apply wherever you participate as a Happy People member — including WhatsApp groups, the website at happypeople.live, the app at app.happypeople.live, and our native iOS and Android apps.
By joining or continuing as a member, you agree to follow these guidelines and to our Privacy Policy.
Our community is a sanctuary. Treat member information, conversations, and contributions with care. What is shared inside Happy People stays inside Happy People unless the member has clearly agreed otherwise or the law requires disclosure.

Happy People Connect Ltd operates the platform and community programmes described in these guidelines.
3. Membership
3.1 Who can join
- Membership is for adults (18 and over) who accept these guidelines and our Privacy Policy.
- New members typically join after community introduction (for example a drum roll in our main WhatsApp group), vetting, and registration through our onboarding process.
- Membership is a privilege, not a right. We may decline, pause, or end membership where these guidelines are not followed.
3.2 Your responsibilities as a member
- Provide accurate information in your profile and registration (including your community alias, contact details, and birthday month and day).
- Keep your login credentials private; you are responsible for activity on your account.
- Stay active in the spirit of the community — participation in tasks, celebrations, and group life is part of what makes Happy People work.
- Notify administrators if your WhatsApp number changes or if you need a break from the community (see Sabbaticals in the app where applicable).
3.3 Leaving the community
If you wish to leave, contact community@happypeople.ng. For deletion of personal data, see our Privacy Policy.
4. Respect and conduct
We expect every member to treat others with dignity, patience, and good faith.
Do:
- Be kind, constructive, and welcoming — especially to new members.
- Respect differences of opinion, background, faith, and location (Nigeria, diaspora, and beyond).
- Use your community alias and address others by theirs unless they prefer otherwise.
- Resolve disagreements calmly; take sensitive matters to administrators or private chat when appropriate.
Do not:
- Harass, bully, threaten, or intimidate any member or administrator.
- Use hate speech, slurs, or content that demeans people based on ethnicity, gender, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics.
- Share sexually explicit, violent, or otherwise inappropriate content in group chats or on the platform.
- Doxx or share another member’s private information (phone numbers, home addresses, bank details, family information) outside what the community programme requires.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity.
- Spam the groups with unsolicited advertising, pyramid schemes, or repeated off-topic promotions.
WhatsApp has its own terms and tools (mute, report, block). Happy People administrators may take separate action on the platform and in the groups for conduct that harms the community.
5. WhatsApp groups and the Happy People bot
Much of our community life happens on WhatsApp. Our HappyBot and related tools help run birthdays, donations, tasks, and announcements.
You agree to:
- Follow instructions from Protocol, Compliance, and other designated roles when they act in line with these guidelines.
- Use bot commands and app features as intended — not to game rankings, hide participation, or disrupt workflows.
- Accept that messages in groups our bot monitors may be stored and processed to administer the community (see our Privacy Policy).
You must not:
- Add the bot or community numbers to unrelated groups without administrator approval.
- Deliberately flood groups with commands, mentions, or media to obstruct programmes.
- Use the bot or member tagging to embarrass, expose, or pressure members.
6. Donations, tokens, and financial integrity
Happy People runs community fundraising — especially birthday tokens and related events. Financial trust is essential.
Members must:
- Donate honestly and in good faith when they commit to a token or pledge.
- Send evidence of payment to the designated fundraiser when requested, using the official Happy People Connect Ltd account details published for that event.
- Accept that donation records (amounts, dates, celebrants, and donors) are kept for community accounting and may be visible to authorised role holders.
Members must not:
- Falsify payment evidence or claim donations that were not made.
- Pressure others to donate or publicise non-payment in a shaming way (reminders should stay respectful).
- Misuse token eligibility (
is_token) or administrative tools to favour themselves or others unfairly.
Administrators assign token eligibility for birthday programmes according to community rules. If you believe eligibility is wrong, contact community@happypeople.ng — do not argue it out in the main group in a way that targets individuals.
7. Birthdays and celebrations
We celebrate members’ birthdays as a core part of community life.
- You provide your birthday as month and day only for listing and celebration purposes.
- Respect celebrants on their day — messages, tokens, and drum rolls should be positive and inclusive.
- Do not use birthday lists or celebration posts to mock, exclude, or compare members hurtfully.
- Photos and messages used for drum rolls and event posts should be appropriate and, where possible, ones the celebrant is comfortable sharing.
Some members may opt out of certain celebration features (for example drum roll visibility). Honour those choices.
8. Tasks, compliance, and participation
Happy People runs tasks, rockers, scores, and related compliance programmes so the community functions fairly.
- Complete assigned tasks on time where you are able, or communicate early if you cannot.
- Do not falsify task completion, scores, or compliance records.
- Accept that participation data may be summarised for the group (for example reminders or status updates) in line with our Privacy Policy.
Repeated non-participation without explanation may be addressed through administrators or compliance processes.
9. Profiles, photos, and member directory
The member directory and profiles help us know and support one another.
You should:
- Use a clear profile photo where possible (community programmes and drum rolls often use
picture1). - Keep profile information reasonably accurate and update it when things change.
- Use incognito or privacy-related settings only as provided by the platform — not to deceive the community about your identity during vetting or registration.
You must not:
- Upload images you do not have the right to use, or that contain others without their consent.
- Post offensive, misleading, or sexually explicit profile content.
10. Confidentiality and privacy
Happy People is a closed community, not a public social network.
- Member lists, donation details, chat archives, and profile fields are for community purposes. Do not scrape, export, or share them outside Happy People without permission.
- Respect incognito and limited visibility settings.
- Report privacy concerns to privacy@happypeople.ng; report conduct concerns to community@happypeople.ng.
Full details on how we handle personal data are in our Privacy Policy.
11. Roles and administrators
Some members hold roles (for example approvers, fundraisers, committee, Protocol, Compliance). Role holders must:
- Act fairly, consistently, and in the community’s interest.
- Use access to member data only for their role, not for personal advantage.
- Escalate serious issues to designated leads rather than acting unilaterally where protocol requires consultation.
Abuse of administrative access is a serious breach of these guidelines.
12. Enforcement
When a member breaks these guidelines, Happy People Connect Ltd and designated administrators may, depending on severity:
- Remind the member privately or in group context;
- Restrict access to features or roles;
- Suspend WhatsApp group participation or platform access for a period;
- Remove membership and revoke access;
- Retain records where required for donations, disputes, or legal obligations (see Privacy Policy).
We aim to be fair and proportionate. Serious misconduct (fraud, harassment, threats, repeated abuse) may result in immediate removal without a graduated warning.
13. Reporting concerns
If you see behaviour that violates these guidelines:
- Email: community@happypeople.ng
- Privacy / data issues: privacy@happypeople.ng
Include what happened, when, and who was involved (aliases and dates help). We will treat reports seriously and protect reporters from retaliation where we can.
For urgent safety threats, contact local emergency services first, then inform community administrators.
14. Platform and app use
- Use the official Happy People website and apps for community business; do not attempt to break into accounts, APIs, or admin tools.
- Do not introduce malware, phishing links, or harmful code through messages or uploads.
- Accept that we may update features, bots, and programmes; administrators will communicate significant changes through usual community channels where possible.
15. Changes to these guidelines
We may update these Community Guidelines from time to time. The current version will always be posted at:
https://www.happypeople.live/community-guidelines/
We will update the “Last updated” date when we publish changes. Continued membership after an update means you accept the revised guidelines.
